Plague, the black Death and Homoeopathy

The term Plague was applied indiscriminately in the past to all fatal epidemic diseases, but now it has been restricted to an acute, infectious, contagious disease of rodents and humans. This is caused by a short, thick, gram-negative bacillus, Yersinia pestis, formerly known as Pasteurella pestis.

Misconceptions about Homoeopathy

In the present era after getting fed up with the unwanted effects and reactions of the so called modern medicine, a large number of people are seen converging towards Homoeopathy in prospect that Homoeopathic medicines are safer and cause no or little side effects. There are still numerous false notions that hinder the acceptance of Homoeopathy in general public.

Appendicitis :: Acute Appendicitis and Homoeopathy

Appendicitis is a common and urgent surgical illness with variable manifestations, generous overlap with other clinical syndromes, and significant morbidity, which increases with diagnostic delay. No single sign, symptom, or diagnostic test accurately makes the diagnosis of appendiceal inflammation in all cases. The surgeon’s goals are to evaluate a relatively small population of patients referred for suspected appendicitis and to minimize the negative appendectomy rate without increasing the incidence of perforation.

Homoeopathy – Concepts and Philosophy

The word ‘homoeopathy’ is derived from two Greek words, ‘Homois’ meaning similar and ‘pathos’ meaning suffering. Homoeopathy simply means treating diseases with remedies, prescribed in minute doses, which are capable of producing symptoms similar to the disease when taken by healthy people. It is based on the natural law of healing-“Similia Similibus Curantur” which means “likes are cured by likes”.

Alcoholism :: Homeopathy and Alcoholism

Alcoholism can fall into two separate categories: problem drinking and actual physical dependence on alcohol. Problem drinking is commonly emotional in its roots, whereby the alcoholic uses drink to avoid feeling. Alcohol dependence is where the person needs alcohol in order to function.

Flatulent Dyspepsia – Malaria officinalis

A middle-aged man with very sharp features and shiny nails consulted me for his complaints of indigestion with which he had been suffering for last 3-4 years. He would pass a lot of wind and felt bloated most of the times. His bowel movements were unsatisfactory and were the cause of his main worry as he had to go many times to the toilet. He had been on numerous medicines both homoeopathic (like Nux vomica, Lycopodium, Podophyllum etc.) and allopathic and none had given him relief for long. Hearing this I asked one of my students to take his case in detail.
