Senior BJP leader L K Advani has said that he will contest from Gandhinagar Parliamentary Constituency in Gujarat. He has been sulking since yesterday over the party decision to field him from Gandhinagar against his wish of Bhopal Lok Sabha seat.
In a statement issued in New Delhi this evening, Advani said that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi met him this morning and emphasized that the people of Gujarat are keen that he should represent Gandhinagar seat once again. Advani said that he has been representing Gandhinagar in the Lok Sabha since 1991 and decided to contest the elections from this seat. He said he has also conveyed his decision to BJP president Rajnath Singh.
His statement came shortly after BJP president issued a statement saying that it was for Advani to choose whether to contest from Gandhinagar or Bhopal.
