Siddha :: Alternative medicine – Siddha Medicine – Introduction

Siddha system is one of the oldest systems of medicine in India. The term ‘Siddha’ means achievement and the ‘Siddhars’ were saintly figures who achieved results in medicine through the practice of Yoga. Eighteen ‘Siddhars’ seem to have contributed towards the development of this medical system.

Flatulent Dyspepsia – Malaria officinalis

A middle-aged man with very sharp features and shiny nails consulted me for his complaints of indigestion with which he had been suffering for last 3-4 years. He would pass a lot of wind and felt bloated most of the times. His bowel movements were unsatisfactory and were the cause of his main worry as he had to go many times to the toilet. He had been on numerous medicines both homoeopathic (like Nux vomica, Lycopodium, Podophyllum etc.) and allopathic and none had given him relief for long. Hearing this I asked one of my students to take his case in detail.

Homeopathy :: Patients not seen but prescribed

I work in a charitable hospital where there are four different cabins of doctors serving Allopathy, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy and eyes specialization. It is a normal practice with patients to report personally for taking medicines in all these faculties but it is abnormal if some one comes with the request that he needs medicine for the patient at home.

Homeopathy :: Homoeopathy n Case Taking

With a good case taking more than half the battle is won. Dr Hahnemann has clearly mentioned some instructions regarding case taking in the 5th edition of Organon’s Aphorism no.43-104, 139-141,150-152,147-171.Also in the aphorism no he has cautioned us to be unprejudiced observer. That means; before case taking, the physician should be unconditioned with respect to his moods, unbiased with respect to his drugs, flexible like amoeba to take 100% impression. This and above all we should be a KEEN OBSERVER.

Sunstroke or Heatstroke & Homoeopathy

It is also known as Heat stroke or Heat hyperpyrexia. Very often in summers there are news in daily papers about the deaths occuring because of heat stroke. But rarely people think about this cause of death and that what it is? Why it affects and how it affects? And what measures can be taken to prevent it, and what should be done after sunstroke. This all I would like to discuss here. So that all the cases of sunstroke should not prove fatal.
