Deadly dengue claimed two more lives in the national capital pushing the countrywide death count to 175 as 35 fresh cases poured in taking the number of those afflicted with the mosquito-borne disease to 9,680.
With two more deaths, the number of fatalities from the viral illness touched 67 in Delhi where 24 fresh cases were reported in the past 24 hours ending noon today.
One of the deaths occurred in AIIMS, Municipal Health Officer N K Yadav said.
Twentynine-year-old Asha, a resident of Pushp Vihar, admitted to AIIMS on November three, died early this morning.
Yadav said the number of people afflicted with dengue had risen to 2974 in the national capital.
Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri told the Legislative Assembly that dengue was on the decline.
“Dengue is showing signs of decline. It will disappear by November-end.” He said the Delhi Government had taken various steps, including intensive fogging, especially in areas where mosquito breeding was detected, to check spread of the disease.PTI
