Public access to illuminated monuments in Delhi

The Indian Minister of Culture Smt. Chandresh Kumari Katoch has said that the public is permitted to enter and witness the illumination of Qutb Minar, a centrally protected monument from 7.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. on all days except holidays.  The other illuminated monuments can be viewed by the public from outside.

In a written reply she said, centrally protected monuments which were illuminated during Commonwealth Games 2010 and currently illuminated are as under:

3.                 Subz Burj
4.                 Khan-i-Khana Tomb
5.                 Bara Khamba (Hazrat Nizamuddin)
6.                 Khooni Darwaja
7.                 Biran ka Gumbad
8.                 Dadi Poti Tomb
9.                 Chhoti Gumti
10.            Humayun’sTomb Complex
11.            Delhi Gate
12.            Jantar Mantar
13.            Red Fort Complex
14.            Ajmeri Gate
15.            Qila Rai Pithora
16.            Qutb Minar Complex

B: Illumination presently not functioning

1.     Purana Qila Complex
2.     Safdarjung Tomb
3.     Najaf Khan Tomb
