Obesity :: Ayurvedic Guide to Diet and Weight Loss

The inspiration for writing The Ayurvedic Guide to Diet & Weight Loss: The Sattva Program arose from my work and study as a physician for the past twenty years in the field of Ayurvedic Medicine – Scott Gerson.

This extraordinary book presents a time-tested, simple, and medically sensible approach to weight loss and maintenance. Viewing the body as a pattern ofintelligence that is unique for each person, Ayurveda provides the key to establishing the body’s natural state of balance.

Besides being an extremely powerful and efficient path to weight loss, this tenet has applications for strengthening immunity, preventing disease, and achieving higher levels of well-being than we ever thought possible.

Dr. Gerson has given us a very practical, deeply insightful resource that will serve as a guide for all readers interested in optimal health and weight control.

Ayurvedic diet can be complicated since it isn’t one size fits all, rather you need to tailor what you consume and create new habits for optimum health. While it can be confusing, if you are not familiar with the concepts of dosha’s, once you or your practitioner has determined yours, this book becomes valuable in your plan to lose weight and regain health and vitality.

Dr. Gerson uses the ayurvedic approach to weight loss and diet in his clinic and has been very successful in aiding his patients in gaining long-term control over their weight management strategies. When Dr. Oz did his recent program on Ayurvedic diet for body type, it became clear that the experience of Dr. Gerson and his work with his patients was both very relevant and very timely.

Even applying just a few of the tips can make a difference in how one feels and how one controls one’s weight.

One particularly useful tip for me was the recommendation to sip room temperature water through the day to moderate the appetite. Simple, yet effective.
