For the first year more than 95 per cent of Welsh babies have had their routine vaccines by the age of one. The national target was reached for the first time in 2006. The figure was published in a report on childhood vaccination by the NPHS.

A vaccine has been shown to help reduce the number of infants and toddlers developing frequent ear infections, according to new research from Katherine A. Poehling, M.D., a pediatrician at Brenner Children?s Hospital, part of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Meningitis :: Meningococcal disease in Sudan – update

From 1 January to 11 March 2007, the Ministry of Health of the Government of Southern Sudan (MoH) reported 6 946 suspected cases of meningococcal disease including 430 deaths (case-fatality rate, 6.19%) in 9 out of 10 states of Southern Sudan.
