Heart Disease :: GlaxoSmithKline’s COREG, carvedilol phosphate for cardiovascular conditions

GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE: GSK) and Flamel Technologies (NASDAQ:FLML) announced FDA approval of once-a-day Coreg CR (carvedilol phosphate) extended-release capsules, for the treatment of three cardiovascular conditions: 1. High blood pressure, also known as hypertension. 2. A heart attack that has reduced how well the heart pumps (known medically as post-myocardial infarction left ventricular dysfunction). 3. Mild to severe heart failure.

Hypertension :: Positive emotions linked to lower blood pressure

Having a positive outlook makes life more enjoyable, and it may also lower blood pressure in older adults. Among more than 2,500 people aged 65 or older, the higher a person scored on a questionnaire measuring positive emotions, the lower was his or her blood pressure. “Our thoughts and emotions do affect our physical processes,” Dr. Glenn V. Ostir of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, the study’s lead author, told. “The nice thing is that we have some control over that.”

Diabetes :: Merck KGaA & Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Collaboration on DPPIV Inhibitor for Type 2 Diabetes

Merck KGaA and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals S.A (Switzerland), a wholly owned subsidiary of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals India (GPL), have entered into an agreement for Glenmark?s DPPIV inhibitor GRC 8200, a treatment for type 2 diabetes in Phase II of clinical development. Breastfeeding :: Breastfeeding does not make baby more intelligent

Breastfed babies are more intelligent because a higher percentage of highly educated mothers tend to breastfeed, say researchers from the Medical Research Council (UK) and the University of Edinburgh. A higher percentage of breastfed babies are brought up in a mentally stimulating environment. You can read about this study in the British Medical Journal.

Cure :: Stimulation of the Vital Force

There can be one and only one straight line between two points, which is the shortest line between these two extreme points. It is a geometrical fact. Dr. C. S. F. Hahnemann has invented the science of CURE (defined by him in Aphorism 2 of his Organon of Medicine) ? Homoeopathy, which may be termed as the straight line between two points (1) the disease and (2) the CURE. Homoeopathy is the simplest way to annihilate the disease and to achieve the CURE.
