The British Heart Foundation (BHF) today launches its Doubt Kills campaign, urging people to call 999 immediately if they experience chest pain. The campaign aims to help reduce death and disability from coronary heart disease, which remains the UK?s single biggest killer.
Findings from a recent BHF commissioned YouGov poll show that 40 percent of people would not make 999 their first call if they suspected they were having a heart attack.
Leaflets for the campaign are available in GP surgeries and pharmacies across the UK. The BHF website features information on how to recognise the symptoms of a heart attack, and what to do next.
