Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the 110-acre integrated Food Park in Tumkur in Karnataka today. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Modi said, Centre and the states have to work together for nation’s development and political differences should not come in the way of country’s progress.
The Prime Minister said, there is a need to increase purchasing power of villagers so that economy can grow at a faster pace. He said, preventing wastage of food and agri commodities can help save upto 40 thousand crore rupees per annum.
Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said, more food parks will be opened this year by her Ministry to control food wastage across the country.
The Food park will be fully operational by December and is expected to generate over four thousand jobs by next year. It is expected to benefit farmers from the districts of Tumkur, Kolar, Shimoga, which are rich in millets, oilseeds, vegetables and fruits.
