Dubai continues to be the most popular destination for tourists across the world and has now become the world’s number one destination for hotels.
The city already holds the distinction of being the world’s top destination for retail. Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing said that that Dubai jumped from its position as eighth most visited city in the world by international visitors in 2012, to fifth place in 2014.
The CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Issam Kazim, told that the focus in the next year will be on hosting more events and festivals to attract more guests.
The other thrust area will be on attracting more transit passengers at Dubai’s airports into spending time in the city. The city has set an ambitious target of bringing in 20 million tourists by 2020.

One year into the delivery of Dubai’s ‘Tourism Vision for 2020’, significant first steps have been taken to achieve the target of attracting 20 million annual visitors by 2020, leading the emirate’s tourism authority to state a new ambition: for Dubai to become the world’s most visited city.
