Actor Armaan Kohli, a participant on reality show Bigg Boss Season 7, arrested from the set of “Bigg Boss Saath-7” following a complaint filed by British singer-actress Sofia Hayat for allegedly assaulting her during their stay in the reality show.

“Armaan is in the police station and the investigation is going on. He was taken under custody at around 11 pm (Monday). The investigation is on and things will be clear after that ,” an official from the Lonavala police station said.

Mr Kohli has been booked under sections :

Sofia filed her complaint at the Santa Cruz police station here Dec 11, just days after her eviction from the TV show. During her stay on the show, an argument had broken out between her and Armaan. Armaan ended up hitting Sofia with a mop and that left her hurt.

“Following the complaint by Hayat, an FIR was registered against co-contestant Armaan Kohli,” Arun Chavan, Senior Inspector at Santacruz police station, had told.

The Santacruz Police, after registering a case, transferred the complaint to their counterparts in Lonavala in Pune district, who conducted further probe into the matter.

The Lonavla Police had collected the raw footage of the incident from the set of Bigg Boss in the afternoon and after it was allegedly established that Mr Kohli had hit Ms Hayat, the arrest was made late at night.

“A 6 feet two inches man hit me on my face with a stick. I thought he will be evicted but he was not. He is a very violent and aggressive person. He should not be given a second chance to hit any other woman. I don’t want to teach him a lesson. I just want to do what is right,” Sofia Hayat had said in a statement.

“I want Armaan to go to jail for at least a month. He should be punished. The world needs to know that India will not tolerate this behaviour, India stands behind its women,” Sofia Hayat said.
