WiFi free at Varanasi’s Dashashwamedha, Sheetala Ganga Ghats

In Uttar Pradesh, Dashashwamedha and Sheetala, two main Ghats of Ganga in Varanasi have been equipped with WiFi facility today. Visitors at these Ghats will get free WiFi connectivity in the vicinity of around seven hundred metres.

Inaugurating the service in Varanasi, Union IT an Telecommunication Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that eight more Ghats of the city will be equipped with WiFi connectivity in the coming months.

Mr. Prasad said that this is a step forward in materialising the Prime Minister’s dream of ‘Digital India’.

Mr. Prasad also announced that Taj Mahal of Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Khajuraho, Konark, Hampi, Mahabalipuram and other famous tourist places across India will be provided with WiFi facility in the near future.

This will make tourist and religious places more attractive for visitors, as instant communication and real time connectivity has become the need of the hour, he said.

He also assured upgradation of the BSNL mobile services in Varanasi.

The IT Minister also inaugurated the first ATM of Postal Department in Varanasi Cantonment Head Post Office today.
