Arthritis :: Treating with care – rheumatism, arthritis & joint pains

Rheumatism is confessedly a very difficult disease to cure by old school treatment. Seldom is a case of the inflammatory form completely cured by them. The great majority of their cases run from the acute into the chronic form, and last for life. They are often drawn all out of shape (their patients), or left with incurable valvular heart trouble.

Psychology :: Homoeopathy in Paediatrics & Child Psychology

Knowledge of psychology is an asset for a homoeopath. As homoeopaths we treat the individual child by taking his mental, emotional and physical generals and particulars. Our masters Dr. Hahnemann and Dr. Kent had laid stress in their teachings that the mental symptoms are the most important. Interpretation of physical activity or symptom into a mental symptom or its reflection is very difficult task which is not possible unless one has acquired sufficient vision towards human psychology.

Cerebral palsy :: Botox helps children with drooling in cerebral palsy

Children with cerebral palsy often suffer from uncontrolled drooling, but this can be reduced with an injection of Botox, researchers report. They also found that a scopolamine patch – sometimes used for controlling motion sickness – helps reduce drooling, too, but the Botox treatments were associated with fewer and less serious side effects.

Neuroblastoma :: Genes linked with clinical outcomes of neuroblastoma patients

Researchers at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), have used artificial neural networks (ANNs) and DNA microarrays to successfully predict the clinical outcome of patients diagnosed with neuroblastoma (NB). The ANNs also identified a minimal set of 19 genes whose expression levels were closely associated with this clinical outcome.

Pregnancy :: Survival of the fittest – pregnancy or abortion

Reproduction is one of the basic characteristics of a living organism. By this mode it not only maintains its own harmony but also helps in propagation of its own kind. In mammals, pregnancy is the hallmark of reproduction and in humans in particular a female takes 9 months to let the fetus grow in her womb so that it becomes viable and can live or can endure the circumstances outside the womb, of course still under parents love and care.

Asthma :: Program reduces asthma-related illness in inner-city children

A program that reduces allergens and tobacco smoke in the home resulted in fewer asthma-related illnesses in children participating in the intervention than in those who were not, according to a new study sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Children taking part in the intervention had 21 fewer days of asthma-related symptoms over the 1-year course of intervention.

Alternative Medicine :: Science of today and conventional medicine

What is non-science today may indeed become the science of tomorrow, & with these thoughts in mind the complacencies of both schools of thought must be shaken. (Michael Baum, Brit. Prof. Of Surgery; Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, 80, June, 1987 336-337.)
