The federal government, under a new system for regulating natural health products, has approved the herb European pennyroyal as a traditional remedy for the apparent ailment – giddiness.
This is licensed by the federal drug regulator as a “sedative and to relieve tension.”
Health Canada is now regulating the sale of natural health products, bringing some oversight to an industry that was essentially unchecked until 2004.
