Stem Cell :: New Jersey agreed on $500 million plan for stem cells studies

New Jersey government agreed on a $500 million plan to finance stem-cell studies, almost three years after the state became the second in the U.S. to legalize the research.

A measure to invest $270 million in stem-cell research centers has the votes to pass the full Assembly next week, said Assemblyman Neil Cohen, the bill’s sponsor.

A second bill, to allow a voter referendum on whether to borrow $230 million for stem-cell research, would then go before the Assembly in January or February, Cohen said.
