Spider Veins :: Four methods to treat Spider Veins

Spider veins can be treated using various methods, depending on the width, location and severity of the veins. While many medical spas reserve a space on their menu one treatment method, few have assembled more. The Skin Rejuvenation Clinic, P.A. offers four effective treatments to tackle spider veins on the face or legs.

Dr. Elizabeth Hagberg and Dr. Mark Hagberg, owners of the Minnesota-based Skin Rejuvenation Clinic, P.A., say that offering four different treatments to treat spider veins is key to providing results for her client base.

“Often times, if a practice offers just one treatment to treat spider veins, the provider treats the area even though another method of treatment may exist that’s more effective. At the Skin Rejuvenation Clinic, there is no bias,” Dr. Elizabeth explains. “By offering more than one method of treatment, we provide our clients with the best tools available to manage their vessels and remove unsightly spider veins. Often, two methods work well in combination to provide the best results possible.”

Four methods consists of:

Sclerotherapy:
A proven method to gently reduce or eliminate spider veins on the legs. Veins are injected with a sclerosing solution, which causes them to collapse and fade from view. The procedure may also remedy the bothersome symptoms associated with spider veins, including aching, burning, swelling and night cramps

BBL (IPL):
One of the most advanced Intense Pulse Light (IPL) systems available on the market. The BBL is an excellent treatment for the redness of facial spider veins and generalized facial flushing. (In addition, this “photofacial” can be used to treat brown pigment spots, sun spots and age spots with the discoloration gently coming to the surface and “dissolving” over 10 – 14 days.)

Laser Vascular Treatments:
All skin areas can be treated with these treatments which create virtually no downtime. A laser beam will be delivered to the area of your skin being treated while laser pulses are preferentially absorbed in the unwanted vessels, heating and destroying them.

Radiofrequency:
Radiofrequency-modern electro surgery utilizes high frequency current (comparable to radiowave frequency for broadcasting) to effectively treat certain spider veins.
