Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) has confirmed three new human cases of West Nile virus for the 2007 season. Two patients, who reside in zip codes 75205 and 75220, were diagnosed with West Nile fever and have recovered.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Afluria, an additional seasonal influenza vaccine for the immunization of people ages 18 and older. Afluria is intended to protect adults from influenza type A and type B flu viruses. Influenza is a contagious respiratory illness that can cause annual epidemics.
The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 14 additional human cases of West Nile virus including a Gallatin County woman in her 80’s who died on September_12. The woman is reported to have become ill in early September.
