Rescue and Relief Operation by NDRF and ITBP in Uttarakhand

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams today screened out the areas of Kedarnath, Jungle Chatti, Gaurikund, Guptkashi, Sonprayag, Bhairav Chatti and Gaddi in Uttarakhand and rescued 59 persons. Besides this, the teams of NDRF and Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) recovered Rs.1,14,83,360 from plunderers. NDRF used Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to screen the whole area of Kedarnath axis to rule out the presence of survivors in the inaccessible places.

Till now, NDRF has rescued 5941 persons and retrieved 125 dead bodies by search and rescue operations besides helping civil administration in distributing relief materials.

More than 200 ITBP expert mountaineers have constructed a rope bridge on Alakananda river at Lambagad with three ropes. This has tripled the number of victims being evacuated through rope. By 1200 hrs. today, ITBP has evacuated about 500 yatris through this rope bridge.
