Pregnancy :: Food choices by pregnant women

New research shows the food choices women make when they are pregnant are significantly affected by psychosocial factors like stress and fatigue.

What a woman eats while pregnant affects the healthy development of her unborn baby and ultimately affects the overall health of her baby once he or she is born.

Researchers from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Baltimore studied the dietary intake and psychosocial characteristics of 134 pregnant women.

The psychosocial characteristics included
– stress,
– anxiety,
– depressed mood,
– anger,
– fatigue, and
– social support.

The women all had low-risk normal pregnancies.
