Hypertension :: The true art of homoeopathic magnetotherapy

A lady consulted for high blood pressure (140/98 mm Hg at the time of consultation) soon after first Cesarean delivery. She had been diagnosed with this trouble in her last trimester during a routine pregnancy check up. She did not feel any trouble at all- neither then nor now.

Ulcerative colitis :: Effective treatment for active ulcerative colitis

Ulcerative colitis is a common inflammatory disease of the colon that causes bloody diarrhea and heightens the risk of colon cancer. Ingesting the eggs of Trichuris suis, an intestinal worm, appears to be a safe and effective treatment for active ulcerative colitis, new research shows.

Asthma :: Therapy for Mild Persistent Asthma

Some adults with mild persistent asthma may be able to adequately control their asthma by taking corticosteroids only when needed, instead of taking anti-inflammatory medication daily, according to new results from the Improving Asthma Control Trial (IMPACT). Conducted by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute?s (NHLBI) Asthma Clinical Research Network, the one-year, multi-center study found that participants who were treated with corticosteroids intermittently based on symptoms had about the same rate of severe exacerbations and of asthma-related lung function decline as those treated with the standard recommendation of daily long-term control medication.

Alzheimer’s Disease :: Clinical Diagnosis of Alzheimer?s Disease

In a study of people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), those who took the drug donepezil were at reduced risk of progressing to a diagnosis of Alzheimer?s disease (AD) during the first year of the trial, but by the end of the 3-year study there was no benefit from the drug. Vitamin E was also tested in the study and was found to have no effect at any time point in the study when compared with placebo.

Pregnancy :: Vitamin C may reduce pregnancy complication

If a pregnant woman’s waters break too early, her unborn baby can be put in danger of complications. The risk of this happening, however, may be reduced if she takes daily supplements of vitamin C after the half-way point of pregnancy, researchers now report.

Vitamin E :: Take it easy with vitamin E

Vitamin E is one of the most widely used supplements, taken regularly by nearly a quarter of adults ages 55 and over. But recent research suggests that it may not do as much good in preventing cancer and other diseases as once thought, and it might actually cause harm.
