In an effort to counter maternal mortality, the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) is set to spread its ‘Safe Motherhood campaign’ through AIR and Doordarshan.
`Jeevan Dor’, a 13-episode documentary drama for radio and television based on maternal mortality will be launched on July two on AIR and DD in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
“Since radio and television have the widest reach in rural India, we have chosen these media to spread the message on how to make motherhood safe to the Indian women, in her home,” said Pankaj Desai, President, FOGSI.
The 30-minute episodes will feature a dramatised depiction of various complications arising in pregnancy and childbirth, followed by panel discussion with health care professionals and opinion leaders.
The project is supported by AstraZeneca Pharma India Ltd.
