Depression :: Overactive emotion-regulating brain circuit

A brain imaging study by the NIH’s National Institute of
Mental Health (NIMH) has found that an emotion-regulating
brain circuit is overactive in people prone to depression –
even when they are not depressed. Researchers discovered
the abnormality in brains of those whose depressions
relapsed when a key brain chemical messenger was
experimentally reduced.

Neurology :: Dopamine receptor & gene responsible for reward learning

Using a new molecular genetic technique, scientists have
turned procrastinating primates into workaholics by
temporarily suppressing a gene in a brain circuit involved
in reward learning. Without the gene, the monkeys lost
their sense of balance between reward and the work required
to get it, say researchers at the NIH’s National Institute
of Mental Health (NIMH).

Depression :: Information on Depression

Depression is one of the common problems in clinical practice, which causes social, occupational, financial, and interpersonal difficulties. It also causes increased medical morbidity and mortality through suicide. Most of the subjects suffering from depression first go to their general physicians or family physicians. However, most physicians are very busy and preoccupied with general medical problems. Moreover, the general physician is not well acquainted with psychiatric problems. The difficulty is further compounded since a number of medical illnesses may cause either secondary or reactive depression.

Homeopathy :: Spirit of Homoeopathy and a parting gift

The mood was very sentimental on the last day of our college when we were to part ways with our friends. After all of them left, I looked bemusingly at the sprawling, lush green campus, standing all alone. I had to meet one important person–my professor
