HIV :: Gauteng Health Department, Musicians Join Hands Against Aids HIV

Gauteng Health Department in partnership with African Musicians Against HIV and Aids (AMAHA) will host Ekasi S’ vukile concert at Soweto, Mofolo Park on February 24, 2007.

The aim of the concert, is to raise awareness amongst young people about the danger of HIV and Aids epidemic.

Under the theme ?Turn Talk into action against HIV and Aids’ the festival also seek encourage Gauteng youth to take decisive action to protect themselves against the diseases.

?Young people know about Aids but too many of them are not taking the necessary action to protect themselves from the epidemic,? Chairman of AMAHA and a Kwaito Star, Doc Shebeleza lamented.

He said that a multi-stakeholder approach is needed and critical to stem the galloping spread of the HIV and Aids.

Director of Multisectoral Aids at Gauteng Health Department, Dr Elizabeth Flyod welcomes AMAHA’s effort to lend a helping hand in the fight against Aids.

She said other stakeholders such as SABC, Kwaito Nation, YFM, Sowetan, Sunday World, and Daily Sun have come on board to convey the message of care, abstinence, faithfulness and ?no condom, no sex principle’.
