HIV :: End to the suffering and death bred by this global pandemic

We have known this epidemic for 25 years. In the United States, it was 15 years of dying followed, for most of us, by 10 years of living. But when we look across the globe, it is still, today, mostly 25 years of dying. There is no question that we have the capacity to change that.

What’s being tested is our collective human will ? and how that will is translated into policies, collaborations and cash.

For World AIDS Day 2006, my message is an appeal: Let the communities of faith speak out with clear and moral voices, calling for an end to the suffering and death bred by this global pandemic.”

— Mary Fisher, UNAIDS Special Representative on World AIDS Day, 1 December 2006
