The UK BMA welcomed the announcement by the SNP of the new ministerial team appointed to run the Health and Wellbeing Department of the new Scottish Executive.
Dr Peter Terry, Chairman of BMA Scotland said: ?With a minority government, this new Parliament presents new challenges for Scottish politics. The BMA is looking forward to working with the SNP to help them deliver a health service fit for patients, the health profession and the people of Scotland.
?We are delighted that all three ministers appointed to the new Health Department have extensive experience with the health portfolio in opposition and the I hope that we can work with them in government to develop their policy ideas so that they reflect the views of those professionals working in the NHS, delivering care to patients every day.
?The SNP manifesto reflected many of the priorities identified by doctors, particularly in respect of its public health agenda and the determination to reduce health inequalities. I hope we can use our similarities to create policies that will make a real difference for Scotland.?
