Health Insurance :: Women having poor health insurance coverage

The Kaiser Family Foundation has released a fact sheet that provides state and national data on women’s health insurance coverage.

According to the fact sheet, 19% of women ages 18 to 64 are uninsured, with Minnesota having the smallest percentage of uninsured women at 9% and Texas having the highest percentage at 29%. In addition, 37% of nonelderly, low-income women are uninsured, according to the fact sheet.

The fact sheet also found that 38% of women are insured through their own employer, compared with 50% of men, and that 24% of women have dependent coverage, compared with 13% of men. Medicaid covers 10% of women ages 18 to 64, according to the fact sheet.
