In a survey of 401 oncology registrars, 102 scored above the threshold for possible psychiatric morbidity and more than one in ten showed clinically important levels of depression. The main reasons cited include being over-stretched, keeping up-to-date with knowledge, fear of making mistakes, talking with distressed relatives, and poor senior support and team relations.

Research into the effects of strokes has furthered our understanding of the different roles of the left and right sides of our brains. A study led by the University of Exeter has highlighted differences in the ability of people to perform basic tasks, depending on whether the left or right sides of their brains have been damaged by a stroke. The research identified the role of the right side of the brain in noticing and correcting errors.

Cancer :: Celebrate cancer survivors on June 10

The University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center will host its annual Cancer Survivors Day celebration on Sunday, June 10 at Washtenaw Community College. Cancer Survivors Day is a national event which began in 1987 as a way of inspiring current cancer patients and showing the world that life after a cancer diagnosis is possible.
