With four more patients succumbing to encephalitis during last two days, the death toll due to the disease has risen to 153 in Gorakhpur and Basti divisions, official sources said.
Additional Director (Health) L P Rawat said that 14 new patients of Encephalitis have been admitted to BRD Medical College Hospital and other district hospitals since January this year.
Among the patients, one hails from Bihar while the rest are from Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kushinagar and Mahrajganj districts of Uttar Pradesh, he added.
Meanwhile, two children aged 12 and four have died of Diarrhoea in Sahjanwa area of the district in the last 24 hours, the sources said.
Post flood, at least three villages have been affected by water-borne diseases like Cholera and Diarrhoea.
At least seven people have been admitted to the primary health centre in the area with complaints of loose motion and vomiting, they said.
