United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan said the impact of global warming threatens peace and the world’s population.
Climate change will bring “billion dollar weather-related calamities” and threatens security, Annan said at a meeting of ministers in Nairobi, Kenya. “Climate change is an all- encompassing threat. It could endanger the ground on which half the world’s population lives.”
Scientists say global warming caused by man-made emissions of carbon dioxide and other so-called greenhouse gases is causing glaciers to melt, sea levels to rise and coral reefs to die out.
