Chikungunya :: Chikungunya cases in a decline in Kerala

As per records, cases of chikungunya fever were in a decline in Kerala, state Health Minister P K Sreemathi told the assembly.

The cases have come down to 100-150 this month from 1000-1500 last month, Sreemathi said while replying to a submission of Congress’ G Karthikeyan.

Government has already distributed medicines and cash to district health centres to help the patients.

Karthikeyan wanted the government to view the matter “very seriously” as fever had already claimed 651 lives in the state.

He also called for effective preventive measures to contain its spread which he said had incapacitated many persons. The livelihood of many people have been affected due to the disease, he added.
