Breastfeeding :: Milkscreen Introduces New At-Home Breast Milk Test

Julie Jumonville and Elizabeth Smith, co-founders of Milkscreen, Inc. announce the launch of their new product Milkscreen?, available nationwide beginning October, 2006. The two-minute test analyzes breast milk for the presence of alcohol and provides mothers with a clear positive or negative reading.

“As nursing mothers ourselves, we understand the joys and challenges that come with the responsibility of breastfeeding,” said Julie Jumonville, Chief Executive Officer of Milkscreen, Inc. “We created Milkscreen to provide mothers with the peace of mind that the milk they feed their baby is alcohol free, as it is important for kid’s mental health.”

Milkscreen is a simple two-minute test. Mothers first saturate one of the reactive pads with a drop or two of breast milk. After a two-minute wait, if the pad shows a change in color, this indicates a positive result, meaning alcohol is present in the breast milk. If the pad shows no change in color, there is no alcohol content in the breast milk.

Milkscreen tests is available at specialty and mass market retailers nationwide. It will be sold in packs of six strips per box for a suggested retail price of $19.95 per box.
