A new research study published in Science revealed that abortion pill Mifeprex, Mifepristone or RU-486 offers hope for breast cancer patients.
Cell biologist Eva Lee of the University of California, Irvine, who led the research, says that the pill has the ability to act on the gene primarily responsible for breast cancer to block its progression.
Researchers said they found that progesterone, which is involved in the female reproductive cycle, stimulates the proliferation of breast cells carrying a gene linked to breast cancer, possibly feeding tumor growth.
