Bird Flu :: Indian Bird Flu – over 1.3 lakh birds culled in Manipur, India

Following the outbreak of avian influenza in Manipur, 1,37,944 birds have been culled so far. This comprises 58,615 chicken and ducks culled on 29th July and 79,329 birds culled from 25 to 28 July.

After 8,140 eggs were destroyed on 29th July, so far 20,249 eggs have been destroyed.

So far 11,615 kg poultry feed has been destroyed which includes 5,773 kg destroyed on 29th July.

Cleaning and disinfection of the State Government poultry farms at Mantripukhri and Porompat is in progress.

Surveillance within a radius of 5-10 kms. is in progress. There are 79 villages (41 in East Imphal and 38 in West Imphal) in this area. There is no report of any abnormal mortality.
