Health :: Continuum of care – approach for mother and child

Hundreds of millions of women and children have no access to potentially life-saving care with often fatal results, the World Health Organization (WHO) says in a report published. The report says the resulting death toll could be sharply reduced through wider use of key interventions and a “continuum of care” approach for mother and child that begins before pregnancy and extends through childbirth and into the baby’s childhood.

Vitamin E :: Take it easy with vitamin E

Vitamin E is one of the most widely used supplements, taken regularly by nearly a quarter of adults ages 55 and over. But recent research suggests that it may not do as much good in preventing cancer and other diseases as once thought, and it might actually cause harm.

Osteoporosis :: Keeping bones healthy and strong – osteoporosis in women

Osteoporosis is much more common in women than in men. This is because women have less bone mass than men, tend to live longer and take in less calcium, and need the female hormone estrogen to keep their bones strong. If men live long enough, they are also at risk of getting osteoporosis later in life.

Diet :: Eating habits among children

A healthy diet is very important for the development of good health during the early years of life. A faulty lifestyle and especially faulty food can lead to an unhealthy adult and therefore an unhealthy society and nation.
