Accusing Multinational tobacco companies of dumping their products in India and trying to “entice” youngsters to take up smoking, Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss today said the government would continue to fight the companies tooth and nail.

Smoking :: Mayo Clinic Tests New Drug to Help Smokers Quit

The Mayo Clinic Nicotine Research Program is conducting a research study to help smokers who would like to quit. The study will test whether the drug Chantix (varenicline) helps smokers who have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) stop smoking.

SIDS :: Bed sharing in sudden infant death syndrome (sids) cases

In “Sleep Environment, Positional, Lifestyle and Demographic Characteristics Associated with Bed Sharing in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Cases: A Population-based Study,” researchers found SIDS cases that involved bed sharing showed more risk factors for SIDS than non-bed sharing cases of SIDS. Risk factors include the use of a couch, the presence of another child, and a higher proportion of infants placed to sleep laterally (on their side), an unstable sleep position that can result in a shift to prone (on stomach) sleep.
