Healthcare :: Test project of patient-centered medical home model endorsed by American College of Physicians

The American College of Physicians (ACP) this week endorsed a test project of a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH). The project, to be conducted in Florida, will combine the resources of the UnitedHealth Group (UHG), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) with ACP to test a model that has the potential to dramatically improve healthcare delivery and quality.

Visual inspection screening can reduce cervical cancer, according to a report published today by IARC and Indian scientists in The Lancet. Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women in low-resource countries, 85% of the global cervical cancer burden of approximately 493 000 cases and 273 000 deaths being currently found in developing countries.

Cancer :: Sexual problems of long-term cancer survivors merit more attention

The first study to look at sexual function in very long-term female survivors of genital-tract cancer found that these women were pleased with the quality of their cancer care but less satisfied with the emotional support and information they received about dealing with the effects of the disease and treatment on sexuality.
