In partnership with the United States Air Force Medical Service, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) has begun operating a diabetes outreach clinic at Wilford Hall Medical Center on Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio to provide primary care and comprehensive case management for people with diabetes.
?My top priority is to reverse the diabetes epidemic the nation is facing today,? said Congressman John P. Murtha, D-12th District, Pennsylvania, who as the ranking member of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, is a strong supporter of diabetes initiatives, and was instrumental in making the clinic partnership possible through a substantial grant from the U.S. Department of Defense.
