Alternative Medicine :: Science of today and conventional medicine

What is non-science today may indeed become the science of tomorrow, & with these thoughts in mind the complacencies of both schools of thought must be shaken. (Michael Baum, Brit. Prof. Of Surgery; Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, 80, June, 1987 336-337.)

New edition of WHO prequalification list to include four new anti-AIDS medicines

Four new AIDS medicines are this week being added to the World Health Organization (WHO) prequalification list, thus further increasing access to a choice of quality products. At the same time, product assessment reports on quality and bioequivalence of triple fixed-dose combination (FDCs) antiretrovirals already prequalified will be made public. Manufacturing site inspection findings will soon also be published, which will make the WHO prequalification the most transparent of all similar quality assurance programmes to date.

Back Pain :: Bowen Technique for Pain Relief & Fibromyalgia

About 25 years ago I lifted a very heavy box. Immediately I felt something snap in my lower back. Before I knew what was happening, I crashed to the floor and couldn’t get up. I could hardly move. The pain was terrible.

Depression :: Information on Depression

Depression is one of the common problems in clinical practice, which causes social, occupational, financial, and interpersonal difficulties. It also causes increased medical morbidity and mortality through suicide. Most of the subjects suffering from depression first go to their general physicians or family physicians. However, most physicians are very busy and preoccupied with general medical problems. Moreover, the general physician is not well acquainted with psychiatric problems. The difficulty is further compounded since a number of medical illnesses may cause either secondary or reactive depression.

Some years later (1816-17) he became convinced that this was not adequate for treating chronic diseases.

Homeopathy :: Patients not seen but prescribed

I work in a charitable hospital where there are four different cabins of doctors serving Allopathy, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy and eyes specialization. It is a normal practice with patients to report personally for taking medicines in all these faculties but it is abnormal if some one comes with the request that he needs medicine for the patient at home.

Arthritis :: Homeopathic Medicines for Arthritis

Sir William Osler, known as the “Father of Modern Medicine,” once said, “When an arthritis patient walks in the front door, I feel like leaving by the back door.” There is one simple reason that Dr. Osler and many other conventional physicians since him have difficulty facing arthritic patients: there is little that conventional medicine offers them. The lucky ones get temporary relief along with drug side effects; the unlucky ones only get the side effects.
