Low Calorie Diet :: Low Calorie Diet Affects Aging-Related Factors
Results from a controlled clinical trial indicate that overweight people who cut their calories by 25 percent for six months have reduced fasting insulin levels and core body temperature, two markers for which lower levels have been associated with increased longevity in humans. The present study is part of a project sponsored by the National Institute on Aging (NIA), a component of the National Institutes of Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to learn more about the effects of sustained low calorie diets in humans on factors affecting aging.
