Bird Flu :: Poultry sales not affected

Poultry sales not affected in Britain, despite the news that H5N1 virus may be in human food chain, reported by BBC.

Tesco has seen only a slight fall in sales of poultry products, while Asda said the outbreak and ensuing investigation had had “absolutely no impact” on customers shopping poultry products in its branches.

Sainsbury’s has recorded a tangible drop – of 10% across its poultry products – but a spokeswoman said bad weather in recent days could also have affected sales.

The H5N1 virus does not pose a large-scale threat to humans, as it cannot pass easily from one person to another. However, Bird Flu is becoming a global threat to birds and humans as well.
