ASI stops Kedarnath temple restoration due to winter

The Archaeological Survey of India ASI has stopped restoration work of Kedarnath Temple, which was ravaged by the flash floods in June, after the doors of the sanctum sanctorum was closed due to snowfall and severe winter.

The structural conservation as well as chemical preservation work has been stopped since November 2nd due to snowfall and severe winter conditions at the site.

The ASI team has returned from the temple site.

An official statement also added that it was not possible to work at the site as the temple gates close for worship on November 5th.
