A procedure called laser neck and jowl liposculpture and platysma resurfacing may prove to be an alternative to facelifts.
The procedure requires only a one-inch incision under the chin and removing excess fat. After the fat is removed, the surgeon tightens the platysma, the thin muscular sheet under the skin of the neck, which improves the shape of the neck.
Only local anesthetic is needed and the patient can return to normal activities in two days.
The patient’s skin should be elastic enough to be able to reform without sagging.
