Dental :: BDA, UK challenges Welsh Assembly to address problems facing dentistry

The British Dental Association (BDA) has today challenged those standing for election to the National Assembly for Wales to solve the problems facing dentistry in the country. Included in the BDA Wales 2007 manifesto for dentistry, which is launched today, are calls for free check ups for under 25s and over 60s to be restored, increased funding to help those in rural areas access NHS dentistry and action to ensure Wales has enough dentists.

Psychiatry :: First Mani Bhaumik Award to UW Scientist for Insights into Brain’s Neuroplasticity

The Cousins Center for Psychoneuroimmunology at UCLA has named University of Wisconsin’s Richard Davidson as the first recipient of The Mani Bhaumik Award. The award was established earlier this year to support scientists in the international community who advance the understanding of the brain and the conscious mind in healing through visionary research, books and education. Bhaumik, co-inventor of the laser technology that made LASIK surgery possible, has funded the annual $10,000 award.
