IAF on Relief Rescue Mission in Aid of Flash Floods Affected Areas

Indian Air Force helicopters that were on standby since 16 Jun 2013 in response to requests by the district administration for carrying out relief and rescue missions for flash floods affected areas after a heavy rain fall, were pressed into service on 17 Jun 2013.

IAF’s helicopters such as Mi17, Mi17 V5 and ALH carried out missions to airlift men, equipment, relief material medical aid and rescued 21 persons stranded in Nakur area, Saharanpur district which included 6 children and 22 persons from Indri Sub division of Karnal district .

The IAF has its aircraft on standby at Ambala, Sarsawa, Bareilley, Gorakhpur and Agra for prompt missions towards providing continuous humanitarian aid to the flood affected regions and is in constant touch with the district authorities for coordinating missions.
