Cholesterol :: Cardiologists will embrace HDL raising drugs

A survey conducted anonymously for Reuters Primary Research revealed that the cardiologists are ready to embrace medicines like statins that raise levels of good cholesterol HDL to reduce the risk of coronary artery diseases.

Statins, that lower LDL or bad cholesterol, are the most widely prescribed drugs in the world and cardiology experts have said that raising HDL may be the next major frontier in the battle against heart disease.

This survey was done following the American Heart Association scientific meeting, where HDL therapy was a hot topic.
