Special Investigation Team to unearth black money

The Government of India has decided to constitute a Special Investigation Team, SIT, to unearth black money stashed in banks in the foreign countries.

Briefing media after first Cabinet meeting by the new government, the Law and Communication Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the team will be headed by former Supreme Court Judge M.B.Shah and another former Supreme Court Judge Arijit Pasayat will be vice chairman of the panel.

The panel will include revenue secretary, CBI and IB directors, Enforcement Directorate officials, CBTT Chairman and RBI Deputy Governor.

The Supreme Court had last week granted the government one week to constitute the SIT for monitoring of all black money cases.

Mr. Prasad said, the government will hold a high level meeting for railway safety in the wake of Gorakhpur train accident. He said that the Railway Minister already went to accident site to take stock of the situation.

The Minister said that tomorrow, there will be a Cabinet meeting in which other important decisions including convening of Parliament Session will be taken.
