Protection of Historical Chaurasi Khambe Ki Chhatri

Chaurasi Khambon ki Chhatri or 84-Pillared Cenotaph is a chhatri located in Bundi town of Indian state of Rajasthan. This memorial was built in 1740 by Maharaja of Bundi Rao Raja Anirudh in memory of his foster brother Deva.

The Indian Minister of Culture Smt. Chandresh Kumari Katoch has said that the ‘Chaurasi Khambhe ki Chhatri’ of Bundi, Rajasthan is not a protected monument of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

The Minister said, according to information received from the Government of Rajasthan, the restoration work of these paintings was executed through Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Programme (RUIDP).

Archaeology and Museums Department, Government of Rajasthan has stated that these paintings were originally in a very bad condition.

The RUIDP has restored these paintings under the professional guidance of an expert empanelled by the State Government of Rajasthan under supervision of all stakeholders and District Collector, Bundi.
