Odisha to tackle heat wave conditions

The Odisha government has asked all the District Collectors to take adequate measures to tackle intense heat wave conditions in the state.

Special Relief Commissioner of the state, Pradipta Mohapatra today told media persons at Bhubaneswar that the Collectors have been asked to conduct review meetings everyday on the heat situation, the measures taken in this regard and submit a report to the state government.

He said, the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority would also convene an emergency meeting at the district level very soon, besides having a 24-hour control room in every district headquarters to monitor the situation.

The hospitals have also been asked to open a special ward for treatment of heat stroke patients. The state government has also asked the collectors to direct all passenger vehicles to stop plying and not to engage labourers between 11 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon.

The day temperature in most parts of Odisha has been increasing in last few days with mercury touching near 40 degree Celsius.
