Healthy :: Young people encouraged to talk sex in Tower Hamlets, UK

Young people in Tower Hamlets are being encouraged to attend a sexual health clinic in Bow to get advice on sexually transmitted infections, contraception, relationships and self esteem.

The clinic, run by Terrence Higgins Trust on Mondays and Wednesdays, is aimed specifically at under 25s.

As well as offering one to one and group advice, the clinic also offers chlamydia and gonorrhoea testing, pregnancy testing and emergency contraception. It also provides breast and testicular exam demonstrations, condoms and condom demonstrations.

Adam Wilkinson, London Operations Manager for Terrence Higgins Trust said ?It?s often much easier for young people to have sex than to talk about it, but we need to get them talking about safer sex and negotiating condom use. Our clinic is totally confidential and young people can pick up information, be tested if necessary and ask any questions they have. As it?s aimed specifically at under 25s we hope it will be a bit less daunting than attending a traditional clinic which caters for everyone.?

The clinic will be held at the East Side Youth Centre at 62 Parnell Road, E2 3EX. It will be open on Mondays from 6-8pm and on Wednesdays from 5.30-7.30pm. For further information on the clinic call 020 8983 9043. Alternatively, to speak to a sexual health advisor, young people can call 020 8983 9042.
